Fatigue
There are many types of fatigue and many causes of the different types. Fatigue is described as more than just being tired; it is more like exhaustion, and it can apply either physically, mentally, or both. One of the most commonly heard about forms of fatigue is a newly discovered illness known as chronic fatigue syndrome. Chronic fatigue syndrom is a common illness in which fatigue is experienced mentally for a long period of time. The chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms can include all normal fatigue symptoms, except they stretch out over a long period and are habitually experienced. Such symptoms of fatigue include muscle fatigue after minimal exertion, constant tiredness, inability to concentrate, headaches, short term memory loss, and more.
Treatment for chronic fatigue can include a variety of options. One of the most common treatments is to eliminate the causes of fatigue. By reducing stresses and taking on less of a load, whether through work or home life, fatigue symptoms can be reduced naturally. For extreme fatigue that doesn’t seem to get any better with these minor changes, fatigue testing may be done and it may lead to a prescription medication. Often, the fatigue of chronic fatigue syndrome is experienced due to a chemical imbalance and medication can help adjust this, thereby reducing the fatigue experienced. Even with treatment, patients can experience a chronic fatigue relapse, particularly if they begin to wean themselves off the medicine. In this case, it is possible that other methods of treatment may need to be used, or medication dosages might need to be increased. There are other types of fatigue as well, including adrenal fatigue and muscle fatigue. Depending on the type of fatigue being experienced, the treatment will vary.

There are also a variety of prevention methods for fatigue. One way to reduce muscle fatigue is anti fatigue mats. These fatigue mats are available in many different types, and they help not only reduce fatigue, but can also show compassion for fatigue by employers, which helps to improve morale. Whether a worker needs to stand in one position, or kneel in one position, for many hours at a time, there is a fatigue mat that will help reduce muscle tension and fatigue. Other simple ways to help reduce fatigue is to limit overexertion, both physically and mentally. Leaving work at work and home stresses at home can limit the amount of time a person spends thinking about important issues and stresses, which can help reduce the amount of fatigue experienced. Maintaining a healthy diet with plenty of water and limited caffeine and sugar can also help regulate the body and avoid fatigue. Regular sleep habits are also important in reducing fatigue.
